All children in Carpinteria deserve the opportunity to have a strong start to their education. Building a foundation in CCP’s classrooms means growing with Dedicated Teachers and support staff in a Welcoming Environment through Dual Language Acquisition and Age-Appropriate Social/Emotional Development. We provide the Building Blocks to academic success for every family and child.

Prospective Families

Our Preschool

Operated by our dedicated staff and rooted in our core values, CCP focuses on school readiness and creating early positive relationships with classrooms, teachers and learning. Every child at our Carpinteria Preschool is cared for and included in hands-on learning and play supporting social-emotional development and acquisition of academic skills proven to set students up for later classroom success.

At Carpinteria Children’s Project, children learn through active exploration and interaction with their environment, indoors and outdoors, through developmentally appropriate activities that engage children’s imaginations, develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and support school readiness.

Children are only as strong as the families in which they live, and families are only as strong as the communities in which they reside. To truly affect the child, we must address the surrounding factors that influence a child's ability to thrive. By connecting families to quality care, diverse resources, and support services, we provide a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment that supports each child to develop their fullest potential and to become lifelong learners and members of a world community.

Our curriculum focuses on two unique aspects: dual-language immersion and socioemotional learning. Our evolving dual-language immersion program is dedicated to providing as much exposure to Spanish as possible, integrating it into daily activities to foster language development and cultural awareness. A key addition to our curriculum is Estrellitas, which introduces foundational language and literacy skills in Spanish. Simultaneously, we prioritize social-emotional learning, helping students develop essential skills like empathy, self-regulation, and collaboration.

We draw from a wide range of curricula as resources, ensuring a rich and adaptable learning experience. While we provide structure, the curriculum is ultimately guided by the interests of the students. By allowing them to take an active role in their own learning journey, we encourage curiosity, creativity, and a love for learning.

Our students range in age from 18 months to 5 years, so a typical day for each student varies some depending on their age and developmental levels. All students are taught in small classrooms with low teacher-to-student ratios. Students arrive as early at 7:30 a.m. to settle into their day with choice time. Weather permitting, we are in the outdoor classroom as often as possible.

Educators begin their daily lessons later in the morning. A main goal for lessons is to involve all students and to encourage active exploration through hands-on learning. Academics include foundational learning of letters, numbers, colors, etc. and lessons and activities are engaging in a way that advances subject matter and keeps students interested in school with the highest goal being to promote exploration and creativity.

Our days incorporate about as much snack, play and nap times as they do lessons. Early learners have a lot of needs and we must meet them to maintain a positive learning environment that prioritizes direct engagement with the environment and encourages social interaction among peers. We believe that play and experiential learning are crucial for the development of essential skills at this stage.

The day ends for each student when their parent or guardian arrives. Be prepared, our students will want to share what they have accomplished over this long, busy day!
