The Carpinteria Children’s Project directly operates a state-funded preschool for three and four year olds and five parent fee-based classrooms, subsidized with scholarships when possible and appropriate, for children three months through kindergarten age.
All of our classrooms participate in the Quality Rating and Improvement System managed by First 5 of Santa Barbara, and we are proud of our ratings. The state preschool classroom is accredited by the National Association for Education of Young Children, and other classrooms are in the process of being accredited.
Our most significant current professional development effort is Teaching Pyramid, a national model for Program-wide Positive Behavior Support developed at the Center for the Social Emotional Foundations for Early Learning (CSEFEL). In collaboration with other providers in Carpinteria, we were awarded the Santa Barbara County Demonstration Site for CSEFEL and have received training and coaching from West Ed.
